Match report

A Blues side depleted by withdrawals could only field 8 players with the help of last minute recruit Tom Lewis from America.A strong looking Rokeby Dragons side opted for a 24 overs game with 6 overs per bowler.Put in to bat the Blues struggled from the off with openers Rob Baldwin and son Nat Baldwin both dismissed for single figures and in form Tom Ellen departing without scoring.3 for 19. Ben Appleton started to build a partnership with Aidan Liddell before being given LBW for 12. 4 for 41. Aidan managed to get to 56 before the overs ran out departing 4 balls from the end and Tom Lewis and Paul Whelan remained undefeated at the end of the innings that produced only 107 runs.
Rokeby showed little mercy scoring the runs required for the loss of only 1 wicket taken when Nat Baldwin clean bowled one of the openers.Sadly his efforts and those of the other bowlers were to no avail as the other opener (Sebastian Philips - who has indicated he might play for the Blues in august)scored an unbeaten 66! It was all over in 16 overs and Rokeby avenged their defeat of 2 years ago in some style.
Not our best performance but short of numbers we shall look for a better turnout next year!
