Result: Win by 9 wkts
Blues v Odiham Sunday 9th June played at Crondall

Blues won the toss and elected to field in a 35 over match against the traditionally strong Odiham side. The weather was set fair (and actually was beautiful by the time we batted!) and the Blues side stacked with plenty of bowlers (but only 9 players until 3.30 when Cormac found the ground and made us 10!!!), Skips thought a 'chase' was the order of the day - plus there were a few too many hangovers to risk batting first!!

Rich Mullett opened up with a lovely, but wicketless, spell of 4 overs and Nick Clarke bowled a 5 over bag of 'all sorts' but took 2 wickets with 2 catches from Skips at Mid wicket... off rank long hops!! Then the ever reliable Zubee bowled a controlled 7 over spell that started the run squeeze with the debutant Aqib bowling a steady medium pace spell from the other end, picking up his first wicket for the club (Tinky with the catch).

On a good batting track the young Odiham side struggled to push the score along and then Drinky came on and took 3 wickets (2 bowled and another catch for Skips!), while Tinky tied up the over end. With Mr Mullett bowling a nice 'death' few overs, Odiham were restricted to 158 for 6 in 35 overs.

Special mention to Bruce 'the Cat' Carman, who did a splendid job behind the stumps and coped with a real variety of bowling admirably.

An excellent tea followed, but that was only the beginning of the afternoon festivities. Tinky and Zubees padded up to open and quite literally threw the bat at everything ...and it connected!!!

Tinky breezed up to 80 before getting out and allowing Drinky a quick cameo (17 not out) and bringing home spoils with Zubee (53 Not out) in 16 overs!!!!

Skips had a sleep in the sunshine, as it is the first time in 25 years of Blues cricket he has not been called upon to bat!!!....and we were all home an hour earlier than usual!

Ronnie did say he was ready at 120 for 1 for a 'typical Blues collapse' and us struggle to do the job ...oh ye of little faith!!

Cracking day and great team performance and very, very rarely do the Blues win by 9 wickets!!!!!

Love and Peace

Skips
