Match Report

Blackheath kindly found 4 players for the Blues including their 2nd team wicket keeper.Blues again lost the toss and were again surprised to be put in on a green slow looking wicket.A time game was agreed.Blues opened the bowling with another Blues Legend James Cocks and Tom Ellen.Tom bowled an admirable spell with great line and length moving the ball off the pitch to regularly beat the bat without success.James was rewarded with 2 wickets for only 13 runs(one a Surrey batsman)as he got the ball to swing a lot.Nick and Tim Clark came on next to applause from the large family contingent watching from the Pavilion and the vocal encouragement of Richie Clark (back in the side after a long injury layoff). It was to be Nick's day with the ball as he bowled at pace to take 4 wickets for only 36 runs in 8 overs. This spell kept the Blackheath side to a reasonable total with good contributions from the from the fielders and Tim Clark(unlucky not to get a wicket).Aidan bowled the top scoring bat (82) who had some annoying habits and a bit of an attitude in the last over before tea.Blackheath had compiled 178 for 7.
After a delay while tea was prepared, a late start to the reply was begun by John Burchfield (a quick 9) and Richie Clark who looked in good form as he compiled runs first with Tom Ellen(13 before being bowled by a straight one) and then Tim Cark (showing the younger generation where the talent came from)to the obvious delight of the various members of the Clark entourage.Tim and Richie had a wonderful partnership of just over 100 runs.Richie scored a superb 80 before being bowled and Tim carried on as Nick Clark came and went without troubling the scorer.Aidan joined Tim and hit some quick runs as time was running out,Tim forcing the pace was caught for a magnificent 43 and Aidan (17 not out) managed to Tie the scores off the last ball of an entertaining draw. The Blues finished on 178 for 6.
