Match report: Frensham (Sept 3)

Result: Abandoned with out a ball bowled

A Blues rarity, a full XI plus umpire, were frustrated by the weather at Frensham
despite an enthusiastic attempt to persuade our hosts to play that included a full net
session. Steady mizzle suggested Frensham may have been right. A damp 20-over game
probably could have been completed, but would have led to an irate groundsman and,
potentially, a sprain or two on the wet outfield.

Nevertheless, the best attended Blues net for many a year revealed two promising new
recruits, Alex and Pat, and third, in Adi, who improved markedly with Richard?s
coaching.

This was followed by a snooker session in the British Legion, featuring some very
impressive potting by James, who formed a strong partnership with Ian, and Richard and
Aman, who also revealed mis-spent youths.

The cue action was washed down by a couple of ales so all was not lost.

Onto Churt, and hopefully better weather, in a fortnight. Thanks to everyone who made it
especially Richard and Paul for assisting in raising an XI, and Colin, guesting from
Churt, who managed to arrived despite a flat tyre caused by his wife hitting a badger
last night (this may be a euphemism, we didn?t like to ask).
