Blues Vs Odiham
It's a rare occasion in the history of the club where at least 7 players arrive at the venue an hour before kick off. The united lads of the blues made good use of the facilities at the home of the opposition. With everybody participating in the nets it was a promising start to what class as a battle against this historic fixture.
In typical blues style we lost the toss.
We bowled first with glen and Hal,
Little do you about this amazing pal,
Bowling tight overs from the pair,
Soon it was over and boundaries was the fear,
A few shots we're fired,
And then the opening pair was retired,
Ali B was handed the ball,
The batsmen ran without shouting the call,
He bowled well gripping the seam,
Then Aqib came on, thinking he could live the dream,
Pace wasn't working so we switched up to spin,
Even then the opposition put the rubbish in the bin,
The call was made and Arche Tawney was handed the duty,
Bowling tight lines, his spell was a beauty,
Supported by Rowen the magician with his top hat,
Taking two quick wickets just like that,
After an amazing spell came Richard the man with the plan,
Hitting the lengths that nightmares the clan,
Wickets fell to his name,
Jonathan came to claim his fame,
Took out number 10,
First wicket ever for him, oh he'll be playing again!
Time came for teas, as the target of 226 was well restricted by all the 13 fighting men of the blues. Everyone did fantastic in the field. Catches were caught (I did have flashbacks about a few drop catches) but they didn't last as that was the past. In came the blues for their innings of class!
We had the Tawney brothers open up as one and two,
That didn't last long as Harry walked back and Jack went through,
He sent the foundation for the blues United nation,
Archie scored a massive 68 in domination,
Jack batted well for his 10 and steadied the ship,
In went Rowen at number four to play off his hip,
Brutal force and a punishing strike,
He's one to watch Mr Alex pike,
In went the skipper who found the edge to get off the mark,
Unfortunately his time ended and he came off the park,
Mr Ali B went to the crease,
I briefly remember the LBW given that caused us to crease,
He fought the decision and it was reviewed,
The second Life was worth its while as the ship continued,
On a path that was perfect for Hal,
Hitting big sixes out of the park like seriously, wow!
Ali B's innings came to an end,
Aqib walked to the middle thinking the opposition was his friend,
170ish on the board, the bowlers had their backs to bend,
A total that they could barely defend,
We lost by only one run, now that's a classic game of cricket to attend!
Well done to everyone that played, it was wonderful to see everyone play the way they did. Our new comers doing a fantastic job! Welcome to the club!
