Detail: 18-09-2016 - Churt 2

Result: Lost by 20 runs
35 over game: Churt 246 for 5. The Blues 226 for 5 (Harry 101). Lost by 20 runs.

First a great welcome to new players Dharmesh, Minu, Ricky, Dhavinder, Harry, Vishal,
Phrishan and Chirag who all played and contributed on and off the field

Churt fielded their usual hitters and the Blues attack lead by Glenn (1 wicket) and
Chirag held them well in the first 10 overs to 55 for 1.

Dharmesh leg spin, Dhavinder (1 wicket) and (Alistair 2 wickets) kept the control
despite a short boundary on one side so with 10 overs left Churt were at 160. Anything
under 200 and we had a very good chance - over 225 and it favoured Churt.

With 5 overs left Churt's Auusie pro (rumoured to be on Hampshire's list for next year)
had made 20 and then applied the pressure hitting six 6 sixes over the short boundary in
the last over.

After a fine tea and home made chocolate cake the Blues faced quick bowling from the
Aussie and other Churt lads and were 60 for 1 after Minu had made a fluent 16 in quick
time. fellow opener Harry dug in and following clearly the Skippers orders farmed the
strike and started hitting over the top when Churt put on the spinners. Together with
Josh (lent to the Blues) who made 47 the Blues were 170 with 10 overs left. Cormac,
Ricki and Chirag kept the score moving supporting Harry as he closed in and got his
hundred. When Harry went for 101, the Blues were 20 short leaving our team planning our
own Aussie recruit for next season!

A great day as usual in Churt and thanks to Churt Captain Colin and his team on and off
the field for hosting the Blues today. Paul thinks we have been playing Churt since the
1980s

Thanks to all for a great season and see you all at the team dinner in November!
